Kitchen-Aid vs Sub-Zero fridge? Appliances

After a few months of reading this subreddit, I decided to finally create an account and ask for some guidance. Long story short, my wife and I just bought our first home and it's a fixer upper. We've saved considerably and since we entertain at home a good bit, we want to splurge on renovating the kitchen.

My wife wants a french door style fridge so we're trying to decide between a Sub-Zero 42" french door and a Kitchen-Aid 42" french door. Consumer reports recommends the KA over the Sub-Zero. The KA received an 80/100 and the SZ received a 72.

~$10,000-11,000: http://ift.tt/1My25t0

We know that the Sub-Zero name carries cache and there's anecdotal evidence to suggest longevity -- my in-laws' Sub-Zero is still running well at 18 years of age. However, that was 18 years ago and I'm curious to know if sub-zero quality still justifies its price tag.

The main difference I see in the two I listed above is that the KA has dual evaporators and a single compressor whereas the sub-zero has dual evaporators and dual compressors. On the one hand, I'm concerned about the KA's reliability since I was told that the single compressor on the KA would be under considerable stress as compared to the two separate compressors on the SZ although I'm somewhat skeptical of this claim (please feel free to correct me if my skepticism is off-base!). On the other hand, I'm hesitant of the SZ because we live in a rural area and there's only one SZ authorized repair service within 100 miles. Because Whirlpool owns KA there's no issue with repairs.

I'm grateful for any input whatsoever on these two refrigerators and welcome any other considerations, suggestions, etc. Thanks!
