Let's try and set somethings straight about Silver funded events/updates and Playstation exclusives. DestinyTheGame

Every single significant company is funded by what it sells. It's how the doors literally get to stay open the lights stay on. Most companies even set aside money for an R&D department which could be very losely be compared to the live team. When you buy an appliance, or a vehicle, ect. A percentage of that money is being spent on a research and development department. Some companies spend more or less depending on the percentage set aside from sales. So that percentage of money that you would spend, on let's say a refrigerator, goes towards making bigger and better refrigerators for that company in the future. But here's the tricky part, that is hard to understand. You actually now own a refrigerator that is sitting in your house with food and beverages in it. Holy shit, right? So why do you care what that company does with the money you just spent on that refrigerator. The answer is you don't care. You don't even think about it. You bought that refrigerator because it was what you wanted at a price point that worked for you.

Now just apply this thought process to the live team and emotes. You bought an emote. It very well is sitting on your character/s at this very moment and being used. Now, Bungie has said that yes, money spent on silver will fund the live team, which in turn will fund new content. This is very true. They also make it very clear, that whether you spend money or not on silver. There will still be content released by the live team. Imagine that emote is your shiny new refrigerator from earlier. You got that bad boy home and using the shit of it. Those guys in Crucible and Oryx don't know what's hitting them with the constant barrage of perfectly executed emotes. So here's the kicker. Just like the refrigerator which is sitting in your house, so is your emote being used on your character. A portion of what you paid for the refrigerator went towards making new refrigerators that you will never own or buy. Just like a portion of the money spent on your emote is going towards development of new live team created content. But unlike that refrigerator you actually get to experience that content whether you bought that emote or not.

If you think that a company will just spend money out of the goodness of their hearts, I'm sorry but you don't understand a thing about capitalism. Sure a company can take 5-7% of their profit margin and spend it on making new free content. Guess what though, that money has to come out of somewhere. It will either come out of the employee pockets in the form of less/smaller raises, less vacation time or even end of the year bonuses. Or its going to come out of the CEO or Boards pockets. Now how many of you would take a pay cut for those reasons if you were the boss? I'm sure some of you would, but I guarantee not many.

Now let's touch on the hot topic of Playstation exclusives. Say you are that same CEO. Sony come up to you and offers you an arbitrary but significant amount of money to release a few minor details of the game only for psn players for a certain amount of time. Not only does this help line your pockets but it can also be put to use to pay employees more or hire more employees. You as the boss can now spend more money and resources to make Destiny a better game overall.

Now the Xbox players that are upset really just boils down to 1 main thing and that is jealousy. Xbox players are jealous they don't have the same content/guns/armour as their Psn counterparts. Even though for the Xbox player this literally affects you in no way once so ever as everyone on the Xbox is on a level playing field. You are just upset because you are jealous that Playstation players are getting something that you can't have. Even though at the very least, some of that money went towards making the game better overall. If you didn't read up on the exclusives online or have a buddy with a playstation, you would never even know this because as I mentioned before, everyone who you play with or against are using the same exact weapons and armour as you are.

Let's all look at this objectively and realize that none of this affects you in the least bit if you enjoy the game. Now if the game is stale and boring, that's a whole other topic. You have the right to play or not play the game at your own digression. Just remember that there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing something else until there is new/fresh content. This isn't a bad thing. Enjoy the other games in the mean time. If/when new content is released for Destiny then come back and play for a while. If there is a cost for that content, it's up to you if you think it's worth it. For most people on here, they have spent a whole lot of time in the Destiny universe. This usually implies that you enjoyed it at some point. Don't get bogged down in the details. Play the game because you like to play it. Nothing more, nothing less.
