[Help] Making strawberry scones. I'm worried that fresh berries will be too wet for the dough. Can I cut them up and leave in the fridge to dry out? Cooking

I'm looking at this recipe. I'm making the scones tomorrow. Chop strawberries tonight or tomorrow? Other recipes call for dried strawberries. Open to other recipes too.

EDIT: I sliced then left them in the refrigerator overnight. They are dryer, but still a bit moist. I'm going to dust them in flour per /u/throwitanywhere suggested. Will post final product later.
