Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator ice maker on the fritz appliancerepair

The ice maker to our fridge stopped working a while back - it would cycle normally but no ice was being produced. Found that the "chute" was blocked by frozen water and cleared it out. Nada.

Finally got around to researching it and replaced the two water inlet valves. In the process of installing, also discovered that he water feed tube had become detached from the plug to the ice maker at the top of the back of the fridge - put that back in.

The new inlet valves have resolved our low water pressure issue with the water dispenser but the ice maker STILL isn't working.

What's worse, it now makes a horrendous noise that slowly (after a few minutes) fades away but recurs every few hours. I can only assume that it's a motor related to the scheduled intake of water to the ice maker but why it's happening now, and what to do about it, are beyond me.

Help!
