May the demonic, gormless piss monkey bastard who invented speaker-phones be skinned and fed to his own children. talesfromcallcenters

How many of us have suffered the horror of some fool calling us with their speaker phone on only to sit there for two minutes trying desperately to decipher this impenetrable noise that sounds like a spaniel barking down a sewer pipe?

Really, how hard is it to hold the phone to the side of their head?

It's not difficult.

If someone is driving, they shouldn't be calling us. If they can't listen to the instructions we give them, they shouldn't be calling us. If they're not able to maintain the basic attention level necessary to carry on a phone conversation without doing eleven other things simultaneously, they shouldn't be calling us. They should be heavily medicated and strapped to a table.

Particularly since all my company does is service refrigerators. Anyone who can't hold a conversation with a repair person for two minutes, attention undivided, should have their organs harvested prematurely.

Worse are the couples who have the wife and husband on the line simultaneously and can't - despite years of marriage - manage the base-line coordination to shut the fuck up while I give one or the other of them instructions. This is doubly awful when there's a wretched, stinking little ankle-biter in the room, screeching about the Tonka truck they've somehow managed to get wedged into their nasal passage.

Worst of all are the middle-aged women who ring in from a town that hasn't seen a Presidential candidate since Barry Goldwater drove through, pissing and moaning about their spine pretzel-ization condition from ten feet away from the microphone while you're trying furiously to translate their rambling, incoherent story into something having to do with why their fridge is broken.

I hope the high holy smites the engineer who invented that device with opera-singing testicle warts!
