I will try to keep this short and to the point.
Landlord (Ohio) hated we had a cat but let us have him. He is a nine year old male cat that is an outdoor cat. He is also neutered. We have had him for 8 years. He's also quite the gentleman.
I informed my landlord in writing on July 27th that I would be moving out on August 30th. I moved out and left the entire house clean. We did a walk through together for a move out inspection. She noted that the oven and refrigerator would need to be detailed as well as a few other minor cosmetics and that she would take care of the carpet cleaning.
She charged me $150 for an entire house cleaning and then $169.10 for "extensive damage due to stains and odor of cat urine in every single room".
My cat is not only an outdoor cat but also litter trained. In the 8 years that we have had him, he has never once tried nor succeeded at using the bathroom indoors.
She said she has confirmation it was cat urine and the whole entire house smelled like a litter box.
However, receiving my security deposit two months later, I discover the cat urine was an issue. She never once said anything about it during inspection or anytime before I received my partial deposit back.
I also have pride in my living situation and would not be living in a home smelling of cat piss.
How do I fight this?
