My boyfriend and I are about to move into an apartment that is not very big. He has two dogs and two large fish tanks. I don't have any pets. We have to pay a pet deposit and an extra monthly fee, which I agreed to split because I might get a dog sometime within the next year. The problem is that he just recently bought two sugar gliders and a cage that is literally the size of a refrigerator without even consulting me about it. This made me very upset and he apologized for being inconsiderate but he still has the sugar gliders.
I don't think it is very fair because he didn't ask and that takes up a lot of space in our already small apartment and he already is bringing so many pets. Also, I wouldn't feel comfortable adding another dog to this zoo, which sucks because then I'm paying the pet deposit for nothing.
So I told him that I'm not comfortable with the sugar gliders, and he said he'd sell them. He didn't say anything further to me about it but he seemed a little sad. I feel guilty. Am I overreacting? Should I tell him that I changed my mind? Or should I just stay firm on this one?
