[Unresolved Murder] "The Red Head in the Refrigerator" Unidentified woman found dead in Knox County, KY in 1985. UnresolvedMysteries

Hello, this is my first post on here and I hope I'm doing it correctly. I saw about this case on Facebook. This case is local for me and comments in the Facebook post may lead to her being successfully identified so I wanted to share this case with you all.

On April 1, 1985, an unidentified woman was found in a discarded refrigerator in a dumping area off of U.S. 25E in Gray, KY. Her cause of death was asphyxiation although no strangulation marks were on her neck. The case has remained unsolved for 32 years. Jane Doe is described as a white female with red hair and hazel eyes. She was estimated to be between the ages of 25 to 35. The only clothing she was found wearing were 2 pairs of socks on each foot. A pair of brown boots were found nearby. She is believed to have been from out of town and was possibly last seen at a truck stop with hopes of getting a ride to North Carolina. She may have been the victim of the Red Head Killer, a serial killer who killed red heads around I-75 during the 80s.

Besides the information above, there is barely any other information known about who she was and the events that lead to her death. On the Facebook post I mentioned, there are comments by a person that believes this Jane Doe may possibly be her mother. If Jane Doe is indeed her mother, then the red head in the refrigerator is a woman named Espy Regina Black Pilgrim who went by Jeannie. Jeannie went missing from Spindale, NC around 1984(?). She wasn't reported missing until about 20 years later and the case was barely investigated (per her sister-in-law's comments on the Facebook post.)

Hopefully, Jane Doe will be confirmed as Jeannie. Despite this, the circumstances of her death still remain a mystery. Many questions still stand. Who is Jane Doe (if she is not Jeannie Pilgrim)? Why was she in Kentucky? Was she the victim of the Red Headed Killer? Did she die before or after she was placed in the fridge? What happened to her clothing?

So, so, so many questions. Let's hope this case will be completely solved soon. What do you all think?
