So I'm gonna try to abbreviate this. Basically my family rented a beach house, once we arrived we discovered the refrigerator wasn't working. We spent the next 3 days dealing with the rental company trying to get it fixed, a repairman finally came, told us the fridge was fine. We put our food in, proceeded to lose all the food. We informed the rental agency, they got a full list of the food we lost (a lot, it was 5 days of food for 18 people..). We ended up having to pay for our food ourselves, again, and had to purchase ice for coolers to keep our things in. Contacted them today and demanded a refund, they offered me $400.
Rental was in NC, but we live in VA.
What legal options do we have? Or are we pretty much stuck with the double bill?
