Here are some examples I've though of: Installing an in-line water filter on your refrigerator, getting 1000 thread count sheets for your bed, getting a special smart led light bulb, buying a garage door insulation kit, spending a little extra money to get the InSinkErator that comes with sound-proofing material, stain-glass privacy film for your bedroom window, stuff like that.
