Samsung refrigerator leaking water? (x-post from /r/fixit) Appliances

Cross-posting from /r/fixit!

Hi folks! I've had my handyman hat on for the past couple of weeks or so trying to figure out what's going on with our refrigerator and I'm stumped. Here's hoping someone else might have some more insight!

Our house came with a Samsung French door refrigerator, model RF28HMEDBBC/AA (that's the model). About a year ago, we noticed water leaking from the bottom on the fridge, under crisper drawers, and a sheet of ice(!) under the cooler drawer. After a cursory Googling, we learned that one of the most common reasons this happens is due to the defrost drain icing over. And, unfortunately, these Samsung refrigerators are apparently especially susceptible to this issue. We popped off the interior panel of the fridge to get at the condensor and, sure enough, the defrost drain was iced over. We melted the ice, cleaned up the water, and all was good for a year!

Flash forward to about two weeks ago--water is leaking out in all the same places again. Thinking it was the defrost drain again, we popped the panel off to do our thing. I will say that while there was a bit of frost built up in the V-shaped drain catch, there wasn't a ton of ice at all in there. Just the same, we poured hot water down the drain, heard it run through, and assumed all was good. We also replaced the existing metal heat-conducting tab with an aftermarket drain clip (see here for the clip and the customer images for what all that looks like) since we had read that that could sometimes alleviate the issue.

Sadly, this doesn't appear to be fixing the issue anymore. The fridge will be nice and dry for 4-5 days and then we'll find water in all the same places again. Any thoughts on what else we could try? The only other thing that's changed about our fridge lately is we replaced the water filter at the beginning of this month--and the water filter housing sits squarely in the middle of the fridge between the two crisper drawers. We normally use a generic water filter instead of the Samsung brand to save a bit of money (this is the one). Would a leak there or in the housing leak water into the cooler drawer or out the bottom?

Thanks much!
