Hi everyone,
I'm a long time smoker, but a complete beginner when it comes to making edibles. After seeing a guide OldHippie posted in a thread, I decided to give Fruity Pebbles squares the ol' college try and believe I did things correctly.
I just bit into a bar expecting a somewhat flowery taste, but I only catch a faint trace of the oil at the end. I know it's too soon to be worried since I haven't allowed enough time for the edible to kick in, but I can't help but assume I made a mistake somewhere as this is my first batch ever. I followed a typical cereal square recipe that called for 3 tbsp. of butter / margarine and yielded 12 pieces. My oil is fairly fragrant so I'm wondering whether I just need to use more of it (I used 3 tbsp.) Could I get some feedback on the extraction process I used? Thanks!

Decarboxylated 1/2 oz. of shake I bought at a local dispensary (maybe I need to use higher quality flowers?) in the oven at 225°F on a baking sheet for an hour
-
Transferred flowers to a Dutch oven with 2/3 cups of virgin coconut oil, put the lid on, and put it back in the oven at 225°F for an hour (checked it every 15 minutes to stir)
-
Strained into a mason jar through a coffee filter and squeezed out all the good stuff

At this point I decided I wanted to do a wash as well since I've seen it recommended. I added some cold water to the oil, shut the lid, and let it solidify in my refrigerator over night

Drained excess water this morning, melted oil, and transferred into a clean jar
