Legendary Toronto true crime writer Max Haines passed away on Saturday at the age of 86. Haines was on the scene when police found the body of nine-year-old Sharin' Morningstar Keenan stuffed in a refrigerator in an Annex rooming house. Deeply affected, he vowed to one day catch Keenan's suspected killer Dennis Melvyn Howe. However, Howe remains on the lam and Haines never saw the completion of his life's work.
