Moved from apartment to house. Electric bill is much higher than expected. personalfinance

Hi. I'm not certain if this is the correct subreddit and I'm happy to move this post to a more appropriate one.

I moved a couple months ago from an apartment that I rented to a house that I bought (first home). My electric bill this last month was over $1400 and was close to $800 last month, which is substantially more than I prepared for.

The house is 2400 sqft outside of Denver and has a few solar panels on the roof. No gas, all electric.

The house has electric baseboard heating throughout :( . In the last month I only turned on the heat in the living room and bedroom at night a couple times -- most of the month I left it off as the house seems to be pretty well insulated and faces south. Didn't use A/C at all. Have never turned on either the dishwasher or oven yet. I do use the dryer occasionally, but use the "dryness sensor" to shut it off when done. I wash clothes with cold water.

I thought it might be a hot water leak, but I shut off the breakers to the water heater for a week when I was out of town and it didn't seem to lower anything (thank god it's not a water leak).

I paid the electric bill out of the maintenance fund I had built up, but I won't be able to keep this up. I neglected to check the electric bill before buying the house, however I didn't expect it to be more than a couple hundred (higher in the winter).

I have CFL and LED light bulbs throughout.

I don't think anyone is stealing electricity as the house isn't really near anyone. I'm out of ideas on how to lower it other than heating with wood and unplugging the refrigerator.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

TLDR; moved into a house and the electricity is crazily expensive
