Lamb kabob cooking and prep question Cooking

Making lamb kabobs from leg steaks tomorrow night and the recipe says it is best to leave the meat marinating over night. I've heard that marinating for too long can be harmful to the texture of the meat so my question is, would it be okay to start the marinade tonight and leave it in the refrigerator until 6 tomorrow or should I start it tomorrow morning instead? Also, any suggestions for cooking the kabobs in an oven? I don't have access to a grill. p.s. the marinade calls for 2 lemons
