So I've moved into a new apartment. It's a nice little studio... just one problem. When the refrigerator comes on, it is LOUD AS FUCK (I thought it might be a compressor issue, but it works fine otherwise; I was gone for a week and came back and everything was still cold). Like, loud enough to wake me up at 2am (and it always comes on at 2am). There's just a little doorway (30" wide and 78" tall) between the kitchen area and the main part of the apartment where my bed is, no actual door. I'm thinking of hanging a curtain in the doorway, but so far google has been unhelpful. All the noise-blocking curtains I can find are made for windows (and thus not easy to walk through). Can anyone recommend a doorway curtain thick enough to block a good amount of sound? That, or some fabric I could get and then hang from a rod (basically fashion my own)?
Any advice would be appreciated before I go insane from this fucking fridge.
