[WI] Received security deposit late with false fees, need advice! legaladvice

My girlfriend and I just received our security deposit check and receipt from our previous landlord. We received it a day after their allowed 21 days (so their late on that). We found many disagreements in the receipt as it costs us almost the whole security deposit. Below is our receipt from them, word-from-word:

I do apologize if you hate redirecting! So what we found that is debatable, can be found in the list below:

  • We took the shower curtain off and placed it in the closet until we moved out (basically didn't use it once). Why would they replace it?
  • We cleaned the window(only one in apartment) and patio door, but they still charged us $30!?!
  • Vacuum carpet twice? I vacuumed thoroughly. Seems like they're trying to get more $$$
  • We marked in Inspection sheet that there were stains on the carpet, yet they marked that they had to clean it.
  • The only holes in the walls were from a bulge in the ceiling that the manager probably drilled so it didn't burst, we marked it in the Inspection sheet. We were too afraid to put holes in the wall because we were worried we would be charged.
  • Labor and materials is totaled for $132??? Wouldn't labor be considered all the items in the list? Such as "Clean outside of refrigerator"?

What my girlfriend and I are really upset about is where they hit us hard, charging a total of $240 for "12 months" because we had hermit crabs. We brought it up to them that we had hermit crabs when checking the apartment out and they said anything is fine but dogs. The building manager even knew we had the hermits and didn't seem to care. The landlords started caring that we had hermit crabs when we accidentally told our downstairs neighbor that we cleaned up mites in the tank due to faulty soil.

Lastly, in the letter they specify that our security deposit was $710 which is incorrect. My girlfriend has the cashier's check receipt and its for $730. They are missing $20.

We both are really upset which could be clouding our judgement. Any help would be immensely appreciated!!!

Thank you!
