Replace refrigerator filter or bypass it and install an inline final filter. Frugal

I have looked everywhere I could think of. I don't want to pay for a new Samsung RS2630WW Refrigerator Water Filter Replacement. I bought a Dupont carbon 3000 final filter to put inline to the refrigerator. I haven't actually installed it yet because I can not find any info as to whether it removes the same or more contaminates as the old filter. Does anyone know if it makes economic and safety sense to bypass the inside filter and replace it with a inline filter?
