Norman eats fast food lifeofnorman

"Phone, wallet, keys...yup."

Norman left his house focused on his day. Work should be normal. Traffic should suck. Kathy will ignore me. All will be right with the world.

Around nine, Norman walks to the break room to have a mid-morning snack - an extra banana he packed for his lunch. Eating healthy is the way to happiness, maybe, he thought.

Norman pushed aside Jeff's brown bag and Ashley's diet cola - an autonomous action that felt somewhat foreign for some reason - and then, right in the back of the fridge and all the way to the left, his lunch should be. Or to the right? Where is it?

Did somebody take it? Jeff maybe? Or Ashley? Kathy? Norman's heart fluttered. Is this Kathy's way of asking me to lunch? No, that's just - just...

Then he saw it.

He saw it's doors flap open and shut and could see the light flickering on and off, could hear the grinding of metal and plastic - it's laughing at me, he thought.

And I can see it. Dammit, there it is! Right behind the refrigerator's magnet-ridden flapping maw, my lunch.

"I can't believe it," said Norman out loud, all of a sudden thankful the break room was empty.

Two days in a row.
