Problems with Kenmore refrigerator fixit

Hi all. Apologies for the forthcoming wall of text.

Just bought a new house with a Kenmore 25350683001 refrigerator.

It has some issues.

The good news is that it seems to be cooling fine. However, the ice maker doesn't work and there's very low flow out of the water on the door. I pulled the fridge out tonight to take a look and pretty quickly found the culprit for the ice maker: the water line running to the freezer is disintegrated. The plastic was cracked and broken and just fell apart when I touched it. That should be relatively easy to replace...however, it seems to be mostly cracked and broken near the compressor. I'm not an appliance repair person, so I don't really know what constitutes "normal", but the compressor feels like it's giving off a lot of heat and my thought tonight was that if the compressor was running too hot it might have degraded the plastic in the water line. I should also mention here that the drip tray under the refrigerator is full of water which I'm guessing is due to the cracked water line. We just bought the house...I'm guessing this has been this way for awhile. The compressor isn't making any unfortunate noises, but it is sitting/has been sitting in water for who knows how long.

So here are my questions:

-Is there a way to check to see if the compressor is running hot? I have a multimeter but beyond that I don't have appliance repair tools.

-Is it possible that the reason that the water flow is so low at the door because of the cracked line to the freezer, or is this likely another problem?

-And last...but not least: is this something I can handle or do I need to call a repairman. If I call a repairman on this, what are the odds that the repair is going to cost as much as a new refrigerator?

Thanks for any help or words of wisdom!
