I've got something in my house. It was there long before I moved in. My roommate, who owns the home, says he's been living with "it" for nearly 10 years.
It all started with hearing noises but that has escalated. When I first moved in, I felt my bedroom was the only safe space from the entity. It didn't bother entering into my room and I managed to get the most restful sleep for the first few months.
A few days I was in the kitchen grabbing water from the refrigerator when a dark shadow moved behind me and blocked out the light streaming in from the living room. I turned to see if maybe my roommate was standing in the doorway but there was nothing there. I felt the darkness around me.
My boyfriend has heard me talk about "it" and at first acted like I was losing my mind. After a few sleep overs, he decided to start trash talking the spirit. "There's nothing here," he said. He went on to make fun of the idea that there was a ghost and practically insinuated my roommate and I were nutty. That particular night, he claimed he woke up in my bed with no blankets and shivering cold. He said he was so afraid. His heart was pounding and he knew something was in the room and had messed with him in his sleep.
A couple days later, my best friend stayed over. She slept in my bed as well and had a very similar experience.
Since this has happened my sleep is now interrupted and my insomnia is back with a vengeance. I can't seem to sleep in that room now. If I stay over at my boyfriend's place, I sleep like a baby. But when I'm home I'm tossing and turning until the wee morning hours running on 3-4 hours of sleep. I'm exhausted. The black bags under my eyes are not helping.
So two nights ago, my boyfriend was staying over. He proceeded to have a bit too much to drink. I had to be up for work early Wednesday morning so I finally told him I was going to crash. He told me he was going to stay up for a few more minutes and "fuck with the ghost". I begged him to just let it go but you know how drunks can be.
I went to sleep. I remember when he got into bed with me but quickly drifted back to sleep until something woke me up. It felt like a lucid dream or that I knew there was something next to me that was not my boyfriend. I woke up to see a black shadowy figure/form perched on top of my boyfriend as if it was pinning him down on his chest. I couldn't make out a face or what it was even. I just know I let out a yelp and immediately snapped into what felt like reality. Had I been dreaming? Did this really happen? It felt so overwhelming and real. I don't know.
All I know is that there is something in my house. I'm not sure how to get rid of it. My roommate has burned sage. When he did this he claims he got sick and started vomiting.
My roommate has become a bit of a hoarder. I had a theory that whatever it is really enjoys the chaos. I loaded up several truck loads of stuff and dumped it at the land fill. The place felt peaceful for a while but now I can see his stuff piling up more. I stay on top of cleaning and organizing because whatever it is feeds off the clutter.
I know I want to move but that can't happen anytime soon.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Also, I haven't told my boyfriend about the weird black shadow figure perched on his chest while he was sleeping. I'm not sure how he'd take it.
