My 4y/o son forgets what a vagina looks like, then remembers at an inopportune time. funny

A few weeks ago, my 7y/o son asked what a vagina looks like, because he wanted to see how girls are different from boys. So I got out the encyclopedia and showed him and the 4y/o (who was also curious) what it looks like, explaining what the different parts are, what they're for, etc.

Fast forward to today: one of Kid 1's classmates and her mom are visiting. While the mom is distracted with her daughter, Kid 2 comes to me with a pencil and paper and says, "Mom, can you draw a vagina? I forgot what it looks like." I try not to laugh (and fail) as I tell him to go play.

A few minutes later, while the mom and I are talking, Kid 2 runs up waving a piece of paper, and yells excitedly, "Mom, I remembered what a vagina looks like! Look, I drew a picture of a vagina!"

Time froze. It was a precise moment in which a certain set of absurd circumstances fell into perfect alignment: the complete absence of distractions; the presence of an adult that I barely knew; my child's forgetfulness (and then excited remembrance) of genitalia; and the absolute pride and enthusiasm with which he presented me with his artistic depiction.

And in the split-second recognition of that moment, I did the only thing I could: I laughed. I laughed so hard I choked up and started coughing. I laughed at the comedic perfection of it all. I laughed at the fact that there was no way in my entire life, in my wildest imagination (and it is pretty wild), that I thought something like this could happen. And I laughed because it was damn funny.

Once I was able to catch my breath, I complimented my son on his drawing, sent him on his way, and explained the backstory to the mom, who was, thankfully, very understanding.

And while my son's artistic endeavor will not be posted on the refrigerator, it will DEFINITELY be kept for posterity. Who knows, I might give it to him as a map for his wedding night.
