Why aren't refrigerators made with a top-opening door? NoStupidQuestions

I've been shopping around for a new fridge, and I've found that just about all of them have front-opening doors. This seems very inefficient, because the accumulated cold air spills out every time the door is opened.

I know that some freezers are made with a top-opening door Chest Freezer, but I haven't found a similar configuration for a refrigerator. What gives?

EDIT: This is what got me thinking about it: I saw this movie a long time ago, the fridge stuck with me
