Should I throw my new colors look cold cuts out? NoStupidQuestions

I left the bag in my car instead of a refrigerator. It was 33 F for the high today and I left them in there for approx 1.5 hrs. Are they safe or, should I buy new ones?

What is a refrigerator? NoStupidQuestions

I've had one my whole life, but I don't get it. What does it mean to frigerate and then frigerate again, thus to re-frigerate? On that note, why is there a d in fridge but not in refrigerator?

Salmon kept in veggie box in the fridge overnight (instead of freezer), is it still safe to eat? NoStupidQuestions

I bought half a kilo of Salmon yesterday morning, and my mum didn't notice it in the shopping bag so she put it in the normal refrigerator with the veges. I just noticed it now and put it in the freezer. Is it still safe to eat? It's been well over 24 hours...

Is it okay to keep meat in the original store packaging? NoStupidQuestions

Some people repackage it or put it a separate container... I just put it in the freezer in the store bought packaging, then when Im ready to cook it I just take it out and put in the refrigerator and let it defrost in that original packaging...

I never take it out of its original store packaging until Im going to cook it.. Is this what most people do and is this okay? Its usually in a sealed plastic, or in plastic on a styrofoam tray, or wrapped in butcher paper.

Can I refrigerate freezer food right after heating it up? NoStupidQuestions

This might be a dumb question.

I don't have a freezer at work, but I have a microwave and a refrigerator there. If I cook a frozen meal at home in the microwave and then immediately leave for work (30min drive) and put it the work fridge, will it be okay to reheat for lunch (4ish hours later) and eat? Or would it taste weird? I'm assuming it would be fine, but just wanna make sure

edit: or would it be okay to let the freezer meal just thaw in the work fridge for a couple hours and heat it up at lunch time? That's the most desirable option but I don't wanna die

Can I still use the ice maker in my fridge if I don't have a water hookup? NoStupidQuestions

Is it possible to use the ice maker by pouring in water somewhere? My new fridge has an icemaker but my old house doesn't have a hookup. Heres the model if it matters.

What is a normal level of temperature fluctuation for a freezer? NoStupidQuestions

I just got a brand new fridge and the freezer seems to be having some trouble. The temperature fluctuates between 0f and 16f (-18c to -10c). From what I've read online, a freezer should stay around 0f. Is this just normal since the air temperature will change more easily than the food? Maybe since it's empty it just doesn't have any thermal inertia since every time I open the door all the cold air falls out?

Are there any refrigerator engineers lurking on reddit who can provide advice or assurance about this situation?

What are ideal temperatures for a refrigerator and freezer? NoStupidQuestions

First time having a digital temp setting, and I’ve noticed the fridge is a bit cold, borderline freezing some foods.

If your local climate makes a difference, I live in Alberta Canada.

Promotional Display items in stores? NoStupidQuestions

What do stores like Walmart and target do with promotional display items after the promo is over? For instance, if Walmart has custom Red Bull cooler/refrigerators for a promotion; what happens to it when it's done? Does it go back to the distributor or does it get tossed out?

My refrigerator broke last night, what stuff is salvageable? NoStupidQuestions

I threw away all the opened meats, cheeses and raw chicken cuz I looked it up and it said that after 2 hours in room temp that those things should be thrown away

What about the unopened meats (hotdogs) and cheeses?

We also have a ton of pickled stuff in there, will they be okay?

We have a big refrigerator in the garage so we’re just trying to save as much as we can until the main refrigerator is fixed

Thank you!

Edit: oh and sandwich spreads like horseradish, mustard and mayo. Will they be fine to put in the other fridge? The refrigerator broke probably 14-16 hours ago

Can I still take excedrin that’s been sitting in the refrigerator all day? NoStupidQuestions

I woke up with a migraine this morning so I took some excedrin as soon as I woke up and I must have put the pill bottle in the fridge when I put my water bottle back in the fridge after taking the pills. They’re supposed to be kept at room temp and I was wondering if it’s still okay to take them after they spent over 16 hours in my refrigerator

Why aren't refrigerators made with a top-opening door? NoStupidQuestions

I've been shopping around for a new fridge, and I've found that just about all of them have front-opening doors. This seems very inefficient, because the accumulated cold air spills out every time the door is opened.

I know that some freezers are made with a top-opening door Chest Freezer, but I haven't found a similar configuration for a refrigerator. What gives?

EDIT: This is what got me thinking about it: I saw this movie a long time ago, the fridge stuck with me

Do companies still make those old fashioned ice boxes that were around before refrigerators were invented? NoStupidQuestions

Do companies still make those old "cold pantries" or boxes that basically kept ice in the upper part it and cool air would flow down into the lower compartments? Or have they just been replaced with beer coolers and whatnot?

Does baking soda damage cash? NoStupidQuestions

I was thinking up of places to hide cash and I thought that hiding cash in those little orange arm and hammer refrigerator deodorizer boxes would be a neat idea. But I'm not sure whether or not the baking soda would damage the cash over time.
