[Seeking] [Share] 23M Looking for a room/roommate in Oakland SFBayHousing

Hi reddit,

I'm moving out to Oakland in August to start my first full time job! I'm currently looking for someone to rent an apartment with, preferably within biking distance (about 4 miles) of Jack London Square. I'm looking to spend around $1000-$1200 per month, so we'd be looking at apartments in the ballpark of $2000-$2400 total. I'm looking to start the rental August 1.

About me:

Male, 23 (24 at proposed time of move-in), New Jersey native. Just finished up my masters degree at Stanford, and I'll be working for an engineering firm in Oakland starting August 14. I ride a motorcycle and I love taking road trips, but I usually use my bicycle to get around town. I love cooking so I'll be making use of the kitchen. I'm friendly and I like chatting if we're in the shared area at the same time, but I do tend to spend a lot of time in my room. I'm an avid skier, I like video games and movies, and I try to go to the gym regularly.

I'm very neat. I don't leave dishes in the sink, I vacuum regularly, take the garbage and recycling out when it's full, and I appreciate a housemate who also puts effort into keeping the living space tidy.

About the desired space:

  • Apartment, 2 br, 1 ba
  • Kitchen (including at least oven, range, refrigerator) with counter space
  • Off-street parking. Motorcycles are easy to steal, I'd feel much more comfortable with some sort of off-street parking
  • It should go without saying, but this rental will be long-term (at least one full year)
  • Each bedroom should be for a single occupant. I'm cool with short term overnight guests

If you think we're a good match, send me a message with some information about yourself! I'm open to coordinate to find a place, but if you already have a place I'd also be down to fill an empty room.

Thanks for taking the time to read my posting, have a great day!
