I will be attending college full time this semester. As part of a way to motivate me, I will be spending all day on campus Monday through Friday from the time it opens to the time it closes. While this will be a great way for me to minimize distraction, I will have to figure out a meal plan for myself that doesn't require a refrigerator or oven while still keeping costs down without hurting my health.
So far, my plan is to attend all my classes, work on any assignments for a few hours, and also spend some time in the gym (free for students) when I need a break from the coursework. While I know the routine would have to change somewhat if I got an on campus job, I figure it's best to figure out a course of action before taking into account a variable (the job) that I may not even get this semester.
As far as the meal plan is concerned, I'd be relying on oatmeal (just straight up oatmeal, none of that instant oatmeal single serving packaged stuff) mixed with either peanut butter or a blend of spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.) and some protein powder. I'd be doing that twice a day with the campus microwaves in the cafeteria. Snacks would be cashews and/or almonds. I'd only be drinking water.
That's really all I've been able to figure out so far (besides fruit like apples or bananas). I'm not sure how many calories I should be going for since I'm not sure what I'll be doing in the gym (I know cardio for sure, but not sure whether I'll do any weight training or not). Also, I'm not even sure what a good ratio of fat/carbs/protein would be for whatever calorie count I'd come up with.
Most importantly though, I'm struggling with figuring out foods that can be stored in a backpack without worrying about them spoiling and also not worrying about being too processed, expensive, or chock full of unnecessary ingredients (added sugars, hydrogenation, etc.).
I'd appreciate any advice that can be given in regards to my situation!
