Great flood of 2017... Easy/Quick DWV & Plumbing Questions HomeImprovement

I just can't win with this house...

Thank god I work from home or was around when this happened.... And now I know why the drywall behind the washing machine drain/trap had so much water damage when she bought the house... Was out checking on the laundry and washing machine started emptying/draining.... Except it wasn't draining so it F'n sprayed everywhere, including on the new drywall I just put up (not bad, popped the gfi quick).

House is on a slab. Drain plumbing is all cast iron in the slab. Not exactly sure how it's run since we had cesspool (in back yard) until the 80's (then town sewer currently. I just replaced the vent stack and could hear the washing machine draining so I believe that I have a 2" cast iron pipe in the slab that goes from washing machine >> kitchen sink (kitchen sink is 1-1/2" galvanized) >> 3" main stack/drain that (somehow) runs out to the sewer.

We have had plumbing (drain) issues since she bought the house and now it seems so did prior owners. Recently I've pulled up roots on the end of snake. Basically what's happening is washing machine >> kitchen sink (with garbage disposal) >> main drain. She did a big refrigerator clean yesterday and put a ton of crap down the disposal. I believe something is blocked (or repeatedly gets blocked) between kitchen sink and main stack drain. When you turn on disposal water shoots out the washing machine drain/trap... When washing machine tries to drain it spews out everywhere, not down the pipes... But on the other side (bathroom sink, shower & toilet) it's all good...

So question is: I think I have a handle on the situation/problem but... do I need to ditch the disposal? Should I attempt to re-pipe the kitchen sink drain so this backing up isn't an issue? Would give washer an unobstructed 2" pipe to main stack and I'd dump kitchen sink into main stack drain on another branch.?? Happy to give more info, just don't know what info to provide. Thanks!! (so much for work today)...
