We bought a LG LFX28978ST back in 2011 and today we noticed that the fridge and freezer both stopped cooling. We unplugged and cleaned the dust in the back but it still isn't working. When plugged in, the air is slightly cooler than room temperature but not by much. Called LG customer service and they said the warranty is for 1 yr but certain parts are up to 7 yrs. They suggested I go to an authorized dealer to analyze the problem first. LG might send the faulty part (if it's under warranty) but we have to pay for the labor of the initial analysis and then for the installation when the part arrives. I'm not sure how long/much it will cost in the end, if it's worth it or if it's cheaper to just get a new fridge? Please advise on what to do!
