Earlier this week I threw out some store-bought dinner rolls because there was something a bit off about them. I thought that there was a bit of a minty smell, but I wasn't sure if that was just my imagination. This morning I got out a big package of (precooked) ham and noticed that there were some white splotches on the inside of the package, which reminded me of solidified fat. This was weird because this ham came from the refrigerator section at the grocery store and hadn't been heated up yet, though it had been opened. When I heated up a slice and got it on my plate, I noticed the same kind of minty smell as the dinner rolls. Now I'm kind of put off my breakfast and wondering if the few bites of ham that I did have are going to make me sick. Does a minty smell indicate that food has gone off?
