My refrigerator is emitting a high frequency noise which is slowly driving me mad fixit

I rent an apartment and the refrigerator has been emitting a high frequency noise (one from an electrical connection, the kind where when you are older you won't notice it). Does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix this? It is very annoying and since the fridge still works I don't know if the landlord would be willing to replace it.
