Studio kitchen/living renovation help HomeImprovement

Besides all the BS with CO-OP rules and how to work with/around them, I am thinking about tackling a reno job myself after being quoted $22,710.97 not including electrician, paint, cabinets, appliances, or flooring material.

Some photos for reference: http://ift.tt/2wIzzrl

And the todo:

  • Demo carpet + parquet flooring (cement underneath)

  • Demo kitchen tile floor, cabinets and appliances

  • Demo baseboards

  • Demo floor to ceiling partition wall between kitchen and closet

  • Demo the cement block (old bathtub drain) underneath the refrigerator by the door. I will not be able to remove this completely but only have it shaved down as much as possible to hide it / minimize the appearance.

  • Remove/minimize as much as possible the soffit next and behind refrigerator.

  • Demo cement column in kitchen (not fully - it is structural. Only to see what is underneath it as it sounds hollow in some areas.)

  • (May need an electricion to move an outlet or three)

  • Erect wall partitions for built in closets/murphy bed

  • Sheetrock, tape, mud and sand applicable walls

  • Prime and paint

  • Float and lay engineered hardwood throughout

  • Build and install murphy bed kit

  • Install touch latch closet doors (large 1/2" wood panels?)

  • Add support underneath counter stool area to support countertop

  • Install Ikea base cabinets

  • Install countertop

  • Install backsplash

  • Install sink/appliances 1 2 3 3.1

  • Soak in glory

Any tips/advise would be AWESOME. Suggestions for saving some money? What should I pay for? What should I DIY? I'm handy, but not a contractor. I want to have this project completed with a reletively quick turn-around time. Also, does anyone have experience with panel front refigerators and Ikea cabinets? Thank-you all in advance!
