Price Check on work HomeImprovement

I know there's a few variables that will make pricing change but thought I'd get a gauge to the price I got for some work we were going to contract out, being first time home owners we're just trying to get our bearings on this stuff. We're in Northern California if it helps. Does this seem 'reasonable' ?? I've had 2-3 other plumbers / contractors by for the laundry port a while back and that seems to be somewhat in the ballpark but just curious what the general consensus is for this type of work. Don't want to overpay but I'm more than happy if it seems like a reasonable amount for this type of work. Thanks!

So 2 things.

1. Replace our old Hot water heater Water Heater ($1600)

  • Remove and replace existing water heater with new 50 gallon

  • Rheem gas water heater with 6 year Manufacturer warranty.

  • Bond hot & cold water lines and gas with copper wire as per code.

  • Install new steel water heater stand.

  • Raise supply lines to and from water heater to allow for new water heater height.

  • Install new gate valve.

  • Install new in line ¼” angle stop to service refrigerator supply line

  • Re install existing water heater straps

  • Dispose of existing water heater

  • Insulate water lines as per code

2. Installing a recessed box for our laundry area to clean things up. ($1200)

  • Remove and re install existing garage sink to perform the following revisions

  • Remove and re install existing faucet and terminate existing hot & cold ports to the washer

  • Remove and reinstall drywall to facilitate improvements.

  • Drywall tape with no texture.

  • No painting or priming included

  • Raise existing 1 ½” waste line to laundry sink

  • Tap into the existing waste to add another waste line to service new laundry port. NOTE: Code requires laundry waste to be 2”. This new line will not conform to code.

  • Tap into existing water supply lines and split to service new washer port

  • Add new plastic port to service washer

  • Price is contingent upon new plumbing being able to fit into existing space available while meeting slope needs and does not include hidden obstacles in the wall such as but limited to electrical , other plumbing or mechanical fixtures in wall
