[Los Angeles Area] Need to buy full suite of appliances & don't know where or how to start ..advice? HomeImprovement

(I posted most of this on the Gardenweb appliance forum first, and got no replies..I hope the x-post is ok)

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I've just purchased my first home, and it has no appliances at all (other than a garbage disposal). I need an oven/stove, fridge, dishwasher, laundry (stackable). I do not need a hood or microwave (I'm going to buy a cheap-ish stainless hood, and I'm going to hide a cheap microwave in a cabinet).

I have no idea about where to start: What brands? What price point? Where to buy?

I do know (or at least think I know) a few tidbits:

  • I'm adding these appliances to an area that doesn't have counters yet, so I can be flexible on size.
  • I'd like my refrigerator to be the style with the bottom-drawer-freezer.

I'd like high-quality, nice-looking stainless appliances. I know it won't be cheap, but I'd also like to get a deal. That is, I'm willing to spend some money, but I'd like to take advantage of sales/promotions/deals, etc, to save as much money as possible.

That said, I'm not looking for, like, Viking appliances...my budget is limited, but not yet set. I know little enough about appliances, that I don't even know how to set my budget appropriately (and will gladly take advice on this front).

Brand-wise, I have no allegiance whatsoever.

So if anyone has advice on where to look, how to start, I'm all ears. I am really starting from a blank slate here, so anything helps.

Thank you so much!
