These are two quick stories that I remembered today that both happen to contain eggs
The time I almost "lost us the house"
When I was about 14 my dad's union went on strike. Being on strike he didn't really get paid and so things were tighter than usual (what with my n-mother refusing to get a job and all). One day my mom has me help her carry in the groceries and put them into the already full refrigerator. When I say already full I mean packed with rotting food that was "still good" for my mom to keep but to spoiled to eat. I put the eggs in but with the fridge being full they fell out and broke. Now a normal person would say to just be more careful next time but my mom freaked. Apparently I did it on purpose and now we "couldn't" eat for the next week and we were going to loose the house... You would think by my mothers reaction that I threw all of the valuables down the garbage disposal.
The time I almost ruined Easter:
So my mom dug out an egg dying kit from her hoarder stash one easter and put me in charge of making the dyes for the eggs. There were two ways to make the dye. One of them was with water and the other was with vinegar. I didn't want to go through the trouble of looking for vinegar so I used the water recipe. My mom comes back from doing god knows what and see's that I was using water. Like always she freaked out. She didn't like how the water recipe made the eggs look and I did it on purpose... blah blah blah... and easter was ruined. She then runs to the store and "buys the last" egg dying kit and saves the day from my folly. Good for her. I like the water eggs better.
