I will be staying in Japan for about two weeks, traveling with a big groups of both American and Japanese people. I imagine we're going to be going out to eat a lot. In the U.S. I'm pretty familiar with food substitutions to do as best as I can to avoid things, but I don't want to be a bother when I order food, especially when I don't speak Japanese all that well.
Oh -- and I absolutely hate fish. Sushi isn't even an option (unless I can find something really mild in flavor that also doesn't taste like seaweed. Ugh.)
What do? My hotel does have a refrigerator, so I think I could get away with stocking up on some foods to eat in between going out with our group, but I'd say that's going to be maybe one meal a day at the most. I'm planning on packing jerky and almonds as well.
Otherwise, what are my best, most-likely-to-find options for dining out?
