Norman was sitting on his couch eating a microwave dinner and watching television when his doorbell rang. It was unusual for anyone to come to Norman’s house as he didn’t have any friends. Norman muted the TV and tried to make as little noise as possible in the hopes that whoever it was would just go away. Norman could feel his heart beating throughout his body. The low hum of the refrigerator and the perpetual clicking of his analog clock were the only sounds in the room. After a while, he worked up the courage to see if the visitor was still there. But the unwelcome guest had long since departed. Norman went outside and collected his mail. That was enough excitement for one night.
