I have a problem where a sphere has been placed in a fridge and I have to figure out the time it takes to cool the center of said sphere to a specific temp. Here are the values I have.
- Average convective heat transfer-> alpha
- sphere radius -> r
- Sphere initial temp -> Ti
- Refrigerator air temp -> Tr
- Desired sphere temp -> Tf
- Thermal Conductivity of Sphere -> K
- Specific Heat of sphere -> Cp
- Density of sphere -> rho
- Thermal diffusivity of sphere -> a
My calculated Biot number was 1<Bi<40 so the lumped capacitance model does not work. I was wondering if anyone knows of a reasonable analytical method to solve this problem without using Heisler charts.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
