Removing bones from bone broth Cooking

My wife and I are in the process of brewing our first batch of bone broth and all seems to be going well. When discussing it's intended use, she informs me that she had just intended to put the whole pot - vegetables, chicken bones, and all - directly into the refrigerator without straining. I am horrified, and can't exactly figure out why. Is it okay to leave the bones in the broth after cooking? Will they spoil the broth or give us botulism or something? Or am I freaking out because it's just not what I've come to expect? Any input, insight, or superstition is welcome. Thanks!
