Hi Tucson, Anyone tenant-landlord law savvy? I just moved into an apartment two weeks ago, and everything is falling apart day by day. YAY! We tell management and they send maintenance to fix it immediately. Great! Except they don't actually fix anything, they just talk about fixing it. To start: I have to use all of my weight and muscle to get the sliding glass and screen door to budge open, and this is after they made it 'work'. Our refrigerator sounds like a diesel engine stalling, and the temp is variable throughout the day. The electric stove has one setting: burn everything. Warm setting=hot setting. Everything is either too hot or doesn't heat at all, same with the oven. I just noticed last night that something is leaking BEHIND the wall in our bathroom...drip, drip, drip. Our laundry room smells like a mix of gasoline and cigarettes, and it's getting worse as the old tenant's bad habits secrete out of the newly painted over walls (clever way of covering death smell). All of the screens, 2 of which have huge cat scratches all over, are filthy and covered in footprints. Of course, we couldn't tell until it was night and the lights were on inside the apartment to showcase the "screen art". Not only are the screens filthy (I'm talking spider webs, and caked on dirt) but all the corners of the windows have little pillows of dust and dirt from years of poor upkeep. Our glass shower doors are disgusting. MOLD, y'all. Everywhere. The carpet must've come from the Salvation Army after it was ripped from the showroom of trashlandia. It's disgusting. I didn't even know they made carpet this low grade, scraggly, and ugly. And today the cake topper arrived! The dishwasher, which while running smells like a funeral home, decided to blow a leak all over the kitchen. SWEET! The smell emitting from the area under the sink next to the dishwasher is unfathomable. Oh! Before I forget, the day after we moved in they had a huge water line break and we were out of water all day, and now the pool and hot tub (HUGE SELLING POINT FOR US) is out of commission for the unforeseeable future. To be honest, we knew we weren't moving into the nicest apartment in the first place, but we thought we'd be able to DIY a few things and then we'd be on the cover of Pinterest. <- Sarcasm. But seriously, they really made it out to be nicer that it is, and we're paying way too much for such a shit hole. Please tell me there's a LEGAL way out of our 1-year lease. We just moved in 2 weeks ago, and there's no way we're going to last much longer. #MissionPalmsisadump Thank you!
