So, I am a former [Large Home Improvement Store] associate. My department was Appliances, and one day this lady came in and was looking for a refrigerator. So naturally i do my thing and figure out what she wants, After all is said and done she cant decide between two different models so she said needs more time to think it over. Which is fine, so I told her to call the store whenever shes ready, so she doesn't have to drive back up to the store, and to ask for me. Later that day she calls back. I will be me she will be L.
- me: Thank you for calling [Home improvement store] this is rymannoodle, How can i help you.
- L: Hi, yes this is L we spoke earlier about those refrigerators. Iv decided i want the second one.
- me: Sounds good, Lets get you staged for payment!
Now here is where it gets fun. I got through the normal process of getting her address for shipment and all the other necessary information for purchase. We get to the point of payment and she informs me she wants to use her consumer credit card. Now, in order to take payment over the phone for our consumer credit card, we need the ID number linked to their account. Be it Drivers License or a School ID we need it, Along with your social security number when you open an account. Here is how that went.
- me: Alright now all i need is your drivers license to confirm it is your card to process the payment.
- L: Uh.....no im not giving you that.
- me: Well.....would you like to use another form of payment?
- L: No! I want to use my consumer card! I NEVER have to give my ID number when i use it in the store!
- me: Well, that is because you physically have the card with you. Being that i dont physically have the card the system needs proof it is your card.
- L: I work in Internet Security! I never give out any of my information!
- me: You do realize you had to give us some form of ID and your social in order to even apply for the card?
- L: Not possible i never give that stuff out!
This goes on for another ten minutes or so of me explaining the only options are, another form of payment or come back in the store. Eventually she bursts out "LET ME SPEAK TO A MANAGER!" to which i reply "I will transfer you but understand, this is a company policy and completely out of all of our hands." So i call my manger and explain the situation and he reiterates everything i have been telling her. I told him i know and that she wont listen to me, So he reluctantly takes the transfer. 5 minutes or so pass and her call gets sent back to me.
- me: This is Rymannoodle
- L: Long drawn out overly dramatic sigh I guess ill be coming in the store!
- me: Yep! See ya then!
Still do not understand her thought process through this whole ordeal.
