I am wanting to fix my own plumbing problem with a saddle valve that won't shut off. I replaced my refrigerator today and the new one doesn't have an ice maker. The water line is continuously running into my sink right now because the saddle valve in the basement won't shut off completely. I've done a little research and see a couple options, but I wanted to ask if anyone has a quick and easy solution for me to semi-permanently (I won't be using it again, but someone else might) shut off this ice maker line?
*The solution I've seen so far is to cut the pipe where the puncture is and then replace with a coupling of some kind. I have no soldering tools, so I am considering a push fitting (is that right?). Is this really my best option?
