First, I'm gonna say I haven't been abiding by the cardinal rules of having everything in writing (condition of the house when he bought it, etc).
My landlord bought the house I'm currently living in back in December. My wife and I moved into this house in 2012. We moved out at the end of March. My landlord upon inspecting of the house asked me to come back and clean it up a bit or deduct some cleaning fees from my security deposit.
Since I work 5 minutes away, I decided to swing by and tighten the place up. My wife and I aren't the cleanest people in the world, so I figured I'd own up and help out. His initial request was some vacuuming, cleaning the cabinets, and some sweeping. When I had texted him to let him know I was there, he asked me for some other things while I was there like dusting the blinds, cleaning the toilets, and the refrigerator. I did the best I could over the course of three hours or so. I didn't do everything because I didn't have the proper tools and cleansers required.
When I texted him to let him know I had finished, he told me that he'd be back from a business trip next week and he'd let me know if any additional cleaning was required.
My question is, can he bill me for any additional cleaning? I've known landlords and they all say that cleaning after a tenant moves out is something they don't deduct from the deposit unless it's extreme. I took pictures of the house after I was finished as evidence of the condition of the house.
