Been Baked Salmon recently, looking to make this better Cooking

So, I've been following the following recipe for a little bit now:

Ingredients:

2 cloves garlic, minced

6 tablespoons light olive oil

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

In a medium glass bowl, prepare marinade by mixing garlic, light olive oil, basil, salt, pepper, lemon juice and parsley. Place salmon fillets in a medium glass baking dish, and cover with the marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator about 1 hour, turning occasionally.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Place fillets in aluminum foil, cover with marinade, and seal. Place sealed salmon in the glass dish, and bake 35 to 45 minutes, until easily flaked with a fork.

I actually ditched the fresh parsley because 1) I found it difficult to mince, and 2) I didn't like the taste of it...which, really, was the more important part...

Recently I ran out of Olive Oil and wanted to try something different, so I used peanut oil, dehydrated onions, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. This came out pretty well too. I've also lowered the amount of oil I use, but I think I could still reduce it a bit more.

Anyway, while this comes out pretty well, I'm not convinced my salmon is living up to its fullest potential. Keeping in mind that I'm rather a novice in the kitchen, I pretty much have basic equipment and I've just been trying rather random things with this so far.

Can anyone suggest anything that would help me make this really freakin awesome? I say it's pretty good so far, but I tend to find something I like and just stop experimenting, especially when I know there's so much about cooking that I don't know...
