Bad Dog... NoFap

So tonight my dad and I went to my grandparents house for dinner. Before we left, we fed the dogs (a timber wolf husky and a long haired dachshund), made sure they had water and closed all doors except the sliding door to the backyard, which we left open just enough for them to go in and out to do their business (in retrospect, such a dumb idea)...

After our visit, we got back home to a huge mess. Tracks of mud and water leading to the kitchen. Puddles of mud and puddles of water in the kitchen (we think they messed with the refrigerators water dispenser)... about three loafs of bread and a package of licorice missing, which I found scattered around the backyard (licorice was untouched). Going through the house the carpet was somehow spotless but mud was smeared on the edges of my parents door frame like he was trying to get into the room.

What I found intriguing was the expression of the husky (the dachshund was a follower and the husky did all the heavy lifting...I think). He was extremely relatable. We didn't have to say anything to them, their body language was riddled with guilt and subtext that read, "I know, I did a bad thing :( I had an urge and I couldn't resist." We didn't get mad towards them, just disappointed, "bad dog...". They both saw that in us and they responded by showing how disappointed of themselves they were to let us down. We cleaned up the mess, sent them to their crates for the night and that was it. Also it was really hard not to laugh.

I think the lesson that can be taken away from this story and applied to NoFap is that although we may fall into our urges, it's important to not beat yourself up over it, rather be disappointed in yourself and who you are letting down (you? Loved one? etc?), clean up the mess and do better tomorrow.

AND try to find the humor in everything... especially something as tragic as a relapse. It'll keep you more positive! Good luck!
