Norman goes into the break room lifeofnorman

The clock struck 2:41 p.m. Norman got up from his desk, did a small stretch, and headed for the break room for a cup of coffee. "It's pretty late in the day for coffee," thought Norman, "I should better go for a bottle of water instead."

When he got to the break room, he twisted the cold, grey handle of the solid wooden door that had a bin on the front for papers to be deposited into, though no one ever did.

Norman walked inside, and the automatic lights flicked to life. The curtains were drawn on the opposite side of the room. The L counters, that stretched to Norman's left, were bare, cleaned after today's lunch. Norman walked to the refrigerator at the end of the counters. To his surprise, he saw a flier on the refrigerator promoting a bake sale at the end of this month to raise money for the American Heart Association. "I should make a note of that so I don't forget" thought Norman.

He lowered his head to look into the refrigerator, but sadly, didn't see any water bottles. "I hope Lisa is heading to Kroger soon", said Norman to no one in particular.

Norman closed the refrigerator, turned around and headed across the room to the water cooler which sat between the dark grey lunch table and ficus. As he filled his small paper cup with water, making sure he twisted the light blue handle, he heard a small sound coming from above him. "Why does my recliner have MAYONNAISE in it?!" shouted an angry, slightly older black man on the break room TV. Someone had left TBS on, and a "Meet the Browns" rerun was playing, though the volume was barely audible.

Norman finished his water, crinkled the cup, tossed it towards the waste bin next to him, but missed. He leaned over, retrieved the crumpled cup and made sure it landed in the proper receptacle this time. Norman then headed out of the break room, headed towards his cubicle. As he was walking, a slight smile came across his face as he pulled his chair out from his desk. "How would mayonnaise wind up in that man's chair?" Norman thought. He had never seen "Meet the Browns".
