I'm looking for something cheap at the moment. The Johnson A419 is great, but it's also $80 and that seems like a lot for what amounts to a microcontroller, thermocouple and relay in this day and age.
Anyone had a good experience with the multitude of cheaper options? I'm seeing $15 units on Amazon. ("Inkbird" any good?) What I'm having trouble finding is whether or not they have the cycle delay option (Johnson A419 calls it "ASD") you need so that it doesn't kill your fridge.
Use will be fermentation temp control in a small refrigerator. I don't mind screw or clamp terminals, long as it comes with a way to close them up safely inside a box. (Some of them seem to expect you to already have an enclosure to put it in.)
Edit: Looking for digital. Only need single stage, but don't mind dual. (Who knows, maybe I find myself moving somewhere with actual winters.) Thought about just doing a BrewPi, but that seems like work and I'm still finishing that keezer. (I already have a RasPi, maybe I should just get a thermocouple and relay and do that?)
