Pork and Chive Meatball
Ingredients
-2 lbs Ground Pork -2 cups Chinese Chives (chopped) can be labelled "nira" at japanese markets -2 stalks Green Onions (chopped) -1 tsp garlic (minced) -1 inch knob of ginger (minced finely or grated including juices) -1 tsp sesame oil -2 whole egg -1 tbsp soy sauce -1 tbsp sake -kimchi (optional garnish) -ponzu (optional garnish) -brown rice to serve
Directions
- Combine all ingredients and 1 of the eggs in bowl
- Mix until mixture becomes thoroughly mixed do not over mix; rest in refrigerator for 15 -30 minutes
- Form into ping pong ball sized meatballs create hamburger patty if you wish
- Heat frying pan on medium heat and add any oil you wish I used sesame oil
- Add meatballs or patty and fry each side till golden brown crust forms.
- Remove from pan and place over brown rice.
- Drizzle with ponzu.
- Fry egg to your preference and place over meatballs or patty.
- Top with Kimchi
This recipe may seem like it has a lot of ingredients, but don't be afraid! This dish requires one frying pan and bowl to make. Feel free to leave out sake if you don't have it on hand or swap out the chinese chives for cabbage if you don't have access to an asian grocery store; swap out sesame oil for any neutral flavor oil. Ground pork can also be substituted for ground chicken or ground turkey as well.
