Why do most recipes say that refrigerator pickles can be eaten after a few days but canned pickles should be eaten after 6-8 weeks? Same thing with pickled carrots. I read they can be eaten after two if they aren't canned but only refrigerated and then the canned ones should only be opened after 4 weeks.
