Green beans looking worse for wear Cooking

A couple of days ago at the supermarket we bought green beans that we thought looked to be big and in pretty good shape. At home we put them in the refrigerator. Today they are showing a lot of brownish patches:

Any thoughts on what causes this? We're wondering if they were stored at too cold of a temperature at some point en route to the grocery department at the market, and that this would be some kind of freezer burn.

Apart from aesthetics, is there any downside to going ahead and cooking/eating them?
