Oooh that smell!: Sanitizing a Konjac Sponge AsianBeauty

I caved and FINALLY bought a konjac sponge. It arrived after a 2+ week wait, and I was super excited to use it. It was like rubbing soft kittens across my face to exfoliate. About four days later I go to use it and it has a major funk despite my patting it dry. I exclaim a huge WTF and abandon it.

Fast forward to today: I finally google how to sanitize my konjac sponge in the desperate hopes that I don't have to throw mine out and wait months for another. I found this article and decided to give the hot water method a try. It's hanging up to dry right now, but everything smells normal so far.

I looked at that whole instruction page, and it mentioned keeping your sponge in the refrigerator if you are in a humid climate. Do any of you store your sponge that way?

tl;dr Konjac sponge got funky fast, so I threw it in hot water. I'm now contemplating storing it in the fridge.
